Daily life a jolly circus,
busy, dizzy, loud and raucous,
zero tolerance of boredom,
caught in hedonistic thraldom,
bright the lights, the music spins,
bytes of chatting feed the grins,
deafened to the lonely cries,
kind, but blind to groans and sighs;
suddenly it all stands still,
life’s in crisis, maybe ill,
plug is pulled on roller-coaster,
no more giddy helter-skelter,
docked in calmness in a blink,
vision clears, silence to think –
who’s a friend? and can I cope?
will I pray? and dare I hope?
