The Black Bitch.

What is wrong with people! We are living in strange times. It seems from last year to this, what we thought was impossible, has actually happened.

There are famous people in history, like Isaac Newton, William Shakespeare, Elvis Presley, Nelson Mandela, Queen Victoria, Rosa Parks, Marilyn Monroe, Mother Teresa, Barack Obama, J.K. Rowling, Jesse Owens, Coco Chanel, Grace Kelly, Princess Diana, Bob Geldof, Audrey Hepburn, Usain Bolt, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, C.S. Lewis, Billie Holiday, Anne Frank, Florence Nightingale, Brad Pitt and Kylie Minogue, just to name a few.

There are also famous name pubs like, The Red lion, The Crown, Royal Oak, White Oak, White Hart, The Swan, The Plough, The Bell, Rose & Crown, The Star, Cross Keys, Travellers Rest, The George, The Beehive and The Anchor, just to name a few.

Now no one would want to deny these famous people didn’t exist, nor would anyone want to do the same for the above pubs. This month however, there has been anger over the name of a pub, called The Black Bitch, the people who are the bosses want to change its name to The Black Hound, in Scotland.

The pub is named after a black female greyhound that tried to help its imprisoned owner. People who are born in Linlithgow are affectionately known as ‘black bitches,’ it is also in the town’s coat of arms. (Daily Record)

The owners say it sounds racist and want to change the name to The Black Hound. The locals, they are furious, the Black Bitch has been around since the 17th century, and is actually the oldest pub in the town.

The people from the town, have been to rallies held outside the pub, because they say the owners want to, “Attack their rich history!”  

The locals, say, “The name has nothing to do with racism or sexism just Lithgae-ism to suggest otherwise is deeply insulting.”

I wish them success, in their quest to keep the name The Black Bitch, for people need to realize, you CAN’T change history!  If anyone is hurt by the name of the pub, I suggest they go and read how it got the name. It is impossible to change history, leave history alone!
