Soap Bubbles

Bubbles, soap bubbles,
float over the fence,
blown by the sweet breath
from the girl next door.
Delicate spheres of light
float suspended on air,
but once they have popped,
will she still send more ?

Liked your story Dougie! Soap bubbles are an example of applications of a branch of mathematics called the “Calculus of Variations” to be used in optimisation problems.
The geometry of such bubbles is not only a spherical shape! I'm not sure why they drift like that neither falling nor ascending, but the total density would have to be exactly that of air.
Who says mathematics can't be romantic? Brilliant photo! Tom
