[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Estrangement, distance, alienation,
suspiciousness between each nation;
in family, and friendships’ strain:
distrust and loneliness brings pain.

Many pray but not aware
of a Father’s love and care.
Indeed, they know they’ve ‘turned their back’ –
but ‘freedom’s brought a sense of lack.

Like that son returning shyly,
will God, Father, embrace us  truly?
(demand a payment?): – with compassion,
He will run to give admission!

Then the loneliness we knew
is swallowed up in love, felt, true,
joy and peace as we belong
to a Father wise and strong.

Yes! Oh, that all would realise it! In the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, it says, 'when he came to his senses'!

I enjoyed the read. We all, to a certain degree, want to be accepted. And Loneliness has many interpretations. When I think about the billions of people in this world feeling lonely, I don't feel so alone.

There are many reasons when we do have to feel alone from human companioship, but we need never feel we cannot approach God, repentantly for his love, like the prodigal son.

We were made to have fellowship with our Maker as Father, and a special fellowship with those who are also his children, and to care for all aound as we are able, some of whom may be lonely! Rhiannon
