Autumn mood

 

 

Autumn makes you reflective 

You look back on things 

Common place things 

In a new light 

 

It’s raining 

I have a cold 

My thoughts turn to John 

Mum and dad loved him

We d listen to him in the car 

 

I did nt know much about him 

He was cheeky and fun mum and dad said 

Some people said he was difficult 

I suppose we all have our  sides 

 

His mates miss him 

And his wife and two kids 

He had a lot left to do 

I am sure it hurts the worse for them 

They say time heals 

But he was still young and he had a lot left to do 

 

He d moved away 

He wanted a fresh start

He got one for a couple of years 

But you never know what’s round the corner 

Forty is way to young I know that 

Younger than me now 

 

I like listening to those recordings of John and his three friends 

We some times visit the places he use to go 

Down near the docks 

I wonder what he d be doing if he was still here? 

 

Been cheeky no doubt 

He d be an old man 

It’s hard to picture him old 

But I ll try 

He d still be out spoken 

People would say he’s a treasure 

 

He might rub some people up the wrong way 

But he d still have interesting things to say 

Mums gone now but Dad and I still listen to him and my sister 

Nan liked him to she always said it was a shame he was gone even though she wished he d got a haircut 

 

Good bloke John 

I think he ll always be remembered
