WAR!

Because of Bra-Gate, I had started my diet, called it “My Diet, My Way,” It is a mind game diet, and it seems to be working, I have lost one stone since I started last month.
As a part of the diet, I eat instead of cakes, biscuits, ice-creams, in the evenings while relaxing after a long day at work, I decided to eat a banana instead, slowly.
I have two meals a day, at around 11am and 6pm and if I am hungry I either tell myself, “No,” but if the urge is strong then I have a banana. I also will have a banana in the day time, whenever I feel peckish, when I would have had a bag of crisp or two. I try not to have two bananas in one day.
I don’t usually buy bananas, so I kept them in the kitchen in a place so they would not be bruised. They are for the whole family as our children love to put them in their blenders, and have the smoothies for their breakfast.
I noticed something that had not happened before, I had put then on a shelf, there was a shelf just above them; little tiny flies suddenly appeared. I knew they were fruit flies but there seemed to be too many.
I decided to nip it in the bud and opened a pack of fly paper stickers, and put it on a bit of paper, so that the little flies would get stuck on them, but only one or two seemed to go on the fly paper, I had tried that for a few days, moving the paper around slightly to wake up the many flies. Still, they were there.
They could not be ignored, but even though I had declared war on them, it seemed that I had lost!
Meghan Googled what to do, and she got one of my small empty water bottles, from the pack of water bottles, and she cut it in half, she then used her cider vinegar, that she uses for her hair, and added washing up liquid to it, she got cling film and covered the top, next she put holes in the top and she put them near the bananas on the shelf.
It was textbook, that did the trick, in two days all the tiny fruit flies had gone! They were all at the bottom of the bottle.
I also Googled info about the pesky little things, and found out, that what I need to do, is when I buy the bananas, I am to put them under the running tap for 30 seconds to get rid of the eggs that is on then in the shop! Then pat dry them, for they had been appearing after the 4th day but as I was making sure, that I didn’t run out of bananas, I had to make sure, there was plenty for us all, each day, as Paul has one in his cereal.
It worked! Between Meghan and myself, we won the war on the fruit flies!
