Holiness

'Holy God': what does it mean?
Good, perfectly pure and clean,
separate from any other,
awesome Lord, unique Creator,
holy and majestic Father:
long to be like Christ our Saviour.
We should have desire and aim
to be holy, free from blame
in our conduct, conversation –
consecrated, dedication
to our holy Lord and Father –
long to be like Christ our Saviour.
Counted righteous, sanctified,
so with Him we can abide
– Jesus’ righteousness applied,
clothed, forgiven, our guilt He’ll hide.
Now we want to live like Him,
grow more holy, hating sin.
Tune: 77 77 77 eg Toplady (Rock of Ages) by Thomas Hastings (tune of 'Rock of Ages, cleft for me')
