Untame Yourself

Do you lose yourself in tv console games, and sad temporary
satisfactions you spent all week sweating to make?
Are you allowed two days rest at "the weekend"
and do you pay to park your car so you cango be a boring husband
with pushchair wife, carrying plastic bags full
of decaying factory vat puss and perfumed delights,
to reduce the overbearing strife cooking, boiling in your head?
Who built thesesuffocating walls around our amazing minds?
Do you feel dead inside?
Are we content, eagerly grinning
through aching teeth?
While there beneath our chilling skin
resides a question.
Those who scratched untamed and hungryat these grey walls
and clawed their way to bursts of heavens light
Were gagged and dragged
away from the sleeping hordes
with fear that they might embrace God.
