unfurl silent bloom
slowly petals extend
into the night
one slowly after the other
they ache for the light
as the cool night dew
settles upon virginal petals
the weight of the moisture
burdens the fragile petalled leaves
they part and drop
to earth cool
a call to ripen
a stem of thorns~
