The Concert

It was something out of a movie. Music was everywhere possible. It wasn't just coming from the band or the voices around me chanting along. It was in me. As if the blood in my veins was replaced by a melodious tone, the bones that held me together were chord progressions and my spine was now a staff of notes. This is what I wanted. This is exactly what I had signed up for.
“Can you believe we’re actually a part of this!”
“What!”
Her voice was barely audible over the chaotic beauty that we found ourselves in. She just shook her head as if she had no worry in the world and smiled like nothing horrible could happen to us. And she had every right to. We’re the ones that people stare at as we walk past them, not out of fear, but out of envy. It’s what happens when you’re one of the fortunate.

Charlie Daniels is new to us and hasn't developed the understanding yet of how our family works. I try to tell myself that’s the reason for how he acts at classes and in our community, but it seems like it’s so much more than that. I wonder sometimes if the family he was with before ours taught him different principles. Or if he even had a family before ours. Whatever the reason, ever since Charlie came into our family community, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him.
