When The Coal Truck Came To Town

When the coal men came into the street

the word went out to get ready for a snatch .

A few lads kept in striking distance

rom a nearby path where they quietly watched .

The truck would stop

and the coal men would

deliver a bag of coal upon their backs .

Then with no one about

the young lads would run

and grab some coal from different sacks .

The coal men would never notice

a few lumps were missing

from the sacks in their truck .

The crafty wee lads were always

very grateful  for what they were able to pluck .
