No Land Ahoy

The ocean roars in silence.
A million noises shut out by the glass.
A perfect ship, one of true workmanship.
Trapped, forever in a feat of science.
A glint.
The glass shimmers in the morning sunlight.
A thousand noises, as people come to look.
But the ship won't hear any of them.
A little flag stands, erect.
It looks likes it's blowing.
But no wind disturbs it's eerie decks.
A boat, to lay where the milk did.
There is no land ahoy.
The crow's nest is empty.
The decks don't ring with sea chanteys.
No movement.
It's well polished brown wooden deck.
It'll never be touched again.
Instead of bearing a fearless pirate name,
It bears a plaque: To our friend, Dave.
People ask 'How do they do it?'
It's a mystery to those who see it.
But for the ship that yearns to be free -
There is no land ahoy.
