mosaics

In my chest burns a void
I try to fill with pleasures
But it remains, longing for
That what we could never forge
You gave me life
Kept me safe and warm
still there was a link missing in our hearts
we sat on different sides of a black and white park
Desperate to bring together pieces of our love
To erase anger and upset
We make mosaics.
Mosaics, glimmering pieces that shine like stars
pieces that long ago were shattered apart
The pieces tattered, don't quite fit
They are jagged around the edges
So a few inches apart they do sit
I long to form bonds, those we never had
To change mosaics, make gap-less pictures instead
Whole and smooth
Closeness I want, but so difficult it is
Perhaps I'll forever want
