I am not anti-men

I am not anti-men.
Although nine out of ten
tries, I have been proven wrong
we somehow fail to move along
get tripped up by routine
the ordinary makes me scream
and you live for structure
breathe each breath, steady and sure
any extra baggage put on your shoulders
memories make heavy hearts boulders
and when the radio is on
my eyes close, the scene is drawn
the song remembers when
and your face comes up again
it's hard to picture those you love
the mind cannot settle on one image of
those you cannot live without
it's almost like we fear and doubt
drawing gOD was once a sin
all that's sacred should be kept in
so the world is unable to destroy it
only death makes silence quit
secrets aren't always safe with cold lips
all lies and lines are kept in a script
but I pray you take mine to the grave
because with all my love, I could not save
you from totally falling apart
even before my story was start
I am not anti-men
Although nine out ten
tries, they just shook their head
after one night in bed
couldn't deal with the dread
of emotions so they fled
"sorry is what they may have said
slash and shred 'til the blood bled red
in my parent's backyard, behind the shed
because a baby couldn't be fed
I sew one single white thread
To close up my spread
But I won't wish myself dead
"women look for men like their fathers, I once read
and that is why I will never wed
