THE WATER BABY CHAPTER FOUR

I found myself in a collection of eerie trees. Somewhere, creepy music was playing; it sounded like the creepy music that plays in "The Shining". To be honest, the whole place was really creepy and had a sort of a dull coloured tinge to it.
I found that I was sitting, so I got up, and started walking in the direction of a pond I could see in the distance.
As I got there, I could see a hand protruding from the water. I stood, rooted to the spot, totally unable to move. I felt scared, and wanted to go back home.
Then suddenly, I saw a baby on the land and crawling towards me. I stared at it, transfixed. Until it stood up, on it's feet.
"Sara," the voice seemed to be coming from the baby. "Sara, you killed me..."
"No!" I yelled. "No, that's not true!"
"Yes, you did, and now, you're going to pay..."
I clamped my hands over my ears, eager to shut out the sounds. I shut my eyes; shutting out the sight of the baby - my dead sister - crawling towards me.
When I opened them, everything was black and dark. I looked around but couldn't see anything. I felt as if I were lying down. Up above me, I could hear a voice. It sounded like the vicar at Sophie's funeral. I tried to stand up, but I was unable to. I tried to yell out something, anything, but no sound came out. I could hear the vicar's voice saying: "Sara was a kind girl, who loved life too much..."
It was frightening. I couldn't understand, why was I in a dark place, and why was the vicar talking about me, as if I were dead? Then it hit me! I was dead, and this was my funeral! I tried to yell out that I was dead, but nothing happened. Then I could hear my mother, sobbing she was, but I could still hear what she was saying: "Oh, well, at least I've still got Sophie."
'Callous bitch!' I thought. Suddenly, something hit me, it felt as if a bucket of icy water had cascaded over me, and I knew no more...
When I came to, I was back in the bathroom, the bath nearly full. Quickly, I turned the taps off. Exiting the bathroom, I ran into my mum's bedroom. "Mum!" I shouted. "Your bath's full!"
Mum was sitting on the edge of the bed, brushing her lovely, silken locks. She gave no notice that she had heard me. "Mum," I said, a little louder, certain she'll hear me this time. Again, she didn't seem to hear me.
I turned back to the door and gasped. A very pretty girl, about my age, was coming out of the bathroom. She looked a lot like me, even though I had no idea who she was, or how she came to be coming out of the bathroom. "Mum," she said. "Your bath's ready."
My mum put down her brush, looked over at the girl, smiled, and said, "thank you, Sophie."
The girl smiled, and headed into what used to be Sophie's bedroom.
Then suddenly, it hit me what my mum had just said.
"Thank you, Sophie. Thank you, Sophie. Thank you, Sophie." The words rang over and over in my mind.
'It's not true," I told myself. 'I'm not dead, and my life, or lack of, hasn't been swapped for Sophie's...'
