never again?

Let me sing this tale in a manner long gone
for these words speak after my heart
my heart which I will bequeath to thee
in place of what never can or shall be
and yet my thoughts flew in circles upon
the reflection of two lovers forlorn
The man disfigured from face to toe
yet he stands tall ne'er bested by any foe
The lady, full of beauty, grace beyond contest
yet her eyes beseech of love at hest
He is knelt by the weight of such bidding,
his brow furrowed in care of her being
but a fleeting smile brushed her lips
when he burst out in songs of distant lands o'er hence
of pale blue skies where she would sing and dance
as he would watch her free herself from the risk of chance
of never knowing the touch of wind beneath her wings
or the kiss of sun where the sparrow sings
She would take in all of gods creation
and charm the bleakest winter to cessation
Yes ! he would smile too at long last
his eyes would be clear without a shadow's cast
to finally see his love free at last!
But perchance ripples break these calm waters
by a stone thrown by chance or fate does it matter?
for she breaks into a million shards;too painful to touch
she fades away from sight and thought;the pain is too much
His eyes seek the distant unseen, He falls; his knees a crutch
tears break free from their prison, sears his vision and disappear
he begins to feel the nights shadow moving ever so closer
as beneath his chest a gash of wound appears
He pries it open and reaches in with fury unbeknownst; to end it all a righteous will!
he reaches and reaches with purpose in veins
of sinews to slice apart, blood to spill and a heart to kill
only to find nothing, nothing at all!
