You only see me for my body:
my round arse and perfect breasts.
You don’t dig beneath the surface,
I’m only meant for casual sex.
I try to be a good woman,
to prove my worth in all I do.
Attentive daughter to a sick father,
I work hard and I love you.
If I starved myself
If I played it cool
If I waited ‘til at least date three
If I betrayed myself
If I lied a bit
If I gave up on being me
What would it take to be accepted,
valued, seen and understood?
Tell me, how can your respect be earnt?
What even is the likelihood?
It’s a great shame your eyes are closed.
Wilful blindness to my majesty,
I’m so full of wonder and of life
Your ignorance is a travesty.
