America: Dented, but Not Broken

An explosion of terror
Sent shrapnel into our hearts,
Wounding us all.
Loved ones were lost
not only through death
but through hate.
A building collapses,
A couple of hearts do too.
A second one falls to the ground
and our resolve is dented, but not broken.
Like it was said by a great leader,
"You can break the foundations of buildings
but no bomb can touch the very foundations
of America"
You can bend steel
But not hope.
You can steal lives
But not dertermination.
Hope
Love
Determination.
This is what will save America,
not revenge.
Although revenge is sweet
it has a bitter aftertaste
reminding constantly
that it will
turn around
again.
The light flickers,
but the flame still burns strong.
