Candyfloss

Runaway clouds
chase across the sky
playing hide and seek with the sun
and passing the world on by
without so much as a cheeky glance
over their shoulder reminding me of
children frolicking in ignorance
cupcaked in happiness and love
supplied by parents with bottomless hearts
and bottomless patience too
always seeming to have enough time
for a game or a trip to the zoo
even stopping to buy candyfloss
and toys to please the little one's eye.
Yes these clouds remind me of children
playing chase across the sky.
When evening comes
and the stars lift their heads
the children's faces are painted with sleep
as they nod off to bed.
The clouds are painted in rainbows
as the moon lifts it's face.
There will always be tomorrow
for clouds and children to play chase.
