We will wonder, you and I,
why the world turns,
and turns again, and how.
Where the girl, once was,
is now – still there; time
not removing, but adjusting,
augmenting.
Youth played out,
what remains embraces
more; pleasures
less clamorous, less
wild than before.
We pitch our weight
against the day, and
quietly celebrate that
time allows us more.
Allows us more.

Thanks Littleditty, I wrote this for a friend, who we are celebrating with, as she is 50 soon, and we are all the more aware of the fragility of life, since her discovery, treatment , and recovery from breast cancer. It is sombre, but celebratory, I hope. I can't help sombre, that's just me!
