The Erosion Of The Sphinx
This is the very real weight of academia.
See the two dusty caricature dons
In the quad?
Peer through the dusty, swirling dust cloud
At the dust blown dons
And listen because -
One hears that honourary degrees are
Quite the thing these days.
Juisee?
"Well of course I'm hoping
My prestige text
Will be out in leadback
Before the start of term. And you, sirrah?"
(This don's dust is mostly biscuit crumbs and dandruff.)
"I prithee nothing quite so grand.
A mere two chapters
In Peter's new ironback."
(This don's dust is mostly chalk and eczema.)
And as they chuckled and chortled,
The dust storm they released
Ravaged the world - albeit in a somewhat
Limited sense of the word 'ravaged'.
An unfortunate consequence being
The further erosion of the head of the Sphinx
Who now looks uncomfortably like the late
Peggy Mount.
Happily though, Graham Hancock has a theory.
