Fractured Mirror

Like a fractured mirror,
Every fragment tells its own story,
There is no collective whole
I am a million individuals
Separate and unique
Yet bound,
Creating this distorted image
Yet a rose holds each petal,
And a chess board each piece
Essential for the entire picture
The way a book is made of pages,
I am not a simple object
This is more complex
The way I am
I can plan and I can dream
Without any overlap,
I know what I want,
And I know how much it would hurt me,
If only I had it.
