Grey Areas

Life is neither 'on' nor 'off',
There is no right or wrong.
Arguments have no ending words
To help the world along.
War and peace are both labels
For states that we decide.
Where one side sees pacific force
The other sees genocide.
Life is neither 'black' nor 'white'
There is no perfect side.
Conflicts started by crazy men,
Continue once they've died.
Thoughts and deeds aren't good or bad,
What baffles legality intentions slake.
Theft of water or theft of guns,
Saved by a shot, or drowned in a lake.
Life is neither 'false' nor 'true',
What once was fake is real.
Belief and logic are not razor sharp,
What we don't know, we feel.
The law believes in right or wrong,
It says both cannot be true,
Yet killing to live is killing still,
Even if the victim was you.
Life is neither alive nor dead,
We are not right or wrong,
We are not true nor false nor both,
We are where we belong.
The final choice is ours to make,
It can go either way,
But if it is truth that decisions seek,
Then in grey areas they stay.
