Heavenly Caroline
I happened upon an angel,
But she had no silver wings.
Her halo hidden, her radiance dimmed.
A gracious smile her only clue
To her heavenly heritage home.
I happened upon an angel,
But she had no silver wings.
She stooped to lend her steady hand.
She gave her love and in payment
Asked for smiles
She cradled every vulnerable soul
With the same tender love.
I happened upon an angel,
But she had no silver wings.
Angels soar in Heaven.
Yet this one walks the Earth
In search of souls unlevened.
I happened upon an angel,
But she had no silver wings.
She never tried to soar on high.
Instead she helped the children fly
When all the world did was sorrow bring.
I happened upon an angel,
But she did have silver wings.
Not the sort that flap and flutter,
But a place for shelter from the storm.
Solace plenty, she covered all.
