Hope

I open my eyes before dawn
Another day has arrived
I always feel I can't take anymore
And it would be better if I died

I've tried everything there is to try
But nothing works for me
It all makes me want to break down and cry
But before I do there is one thing I see

A face appears before my eyes
Gentle hands wipe away the tears
Suddenly my heart just wants to fly
As your soft caress banishes my fears

And though I realise you love me not
Apart from with the love of a friend
A glimmer of hope that I've never lost
Keeps me loving you until the end

And seeing you reminds me that life
Is a lot like the love that we have
For without hope then our troubles and strife
Flow endlessly out and we lose all we had

So listen well of this unhappy man
Who lost his hope for a moment in time
As life is always an uphill struggle
But without hope it's an impossible climb
