A year ago, I saw something different in you
Exhilaration, kaleidoscope kingfisher colour
When you looked at me
Then
I fancied I saw love, romance, passion in your eyes

But really, I saw what I wanted
I ignored the gathering clouds
And danced with you in the light's diminishing reflection

Now
The rain has come and been
And washed away my fascination

There you lurk, stripped of your masquerade
You crumble, and I crumble with you
Time's vacuum, inherently destructive
Malevolent, antagonistic

Spoiling a corner of my tangled mind
