LETTUCE LEAF
She's living life on a lettuce leaf.
She's hungry in her wake.
And in her dreams.
But she refuses to eat,
And as her friend I can't help her.
So what does that, make me?
She's living life on a lettuce leaf.
Her tummy begins to weep.
But she can't face the next mouthful,
And all her energy is lost.
And she loses it all to sleep.
And as her friend I can't help her,
So what does that, make me?
She's living life on a lettuce leaf.
She's gone past extremes
Of being called petite.
With food passed under the table,
And the rest of it in the sink.
And what will she be in a year's time?
I dread to think. I don't want to think.
