My Dark Secret

The sun goes down, all over the town,
I'm in my home and all alone
My son's been fed and tucked in bed,
T.V's at a close but nobody knows,
My dark secret.
Tomorrow is another day, it seems a long way away,
I've tried to sleep by counting sheep
Six, seven, eight... sleeplessness is what I hate!
I lie awake and dream and try not to scream,
My dark secret.
The dream is no funfair; more of a nightmare!
I see you as large as life with your brand new wife,
Coming out of the church - leaving me in the lurch!
But I play your chum, and keep mum,
My dark secret.
I drink to your health and your future wealth,
But you are not mine, so I drink more wine,
The time comes to leave, I have been able to deceive,
Merrily I say goodbye and try not to cry,
My dark secret.
