THIEF TO A KING PART ONE
Mandrake masked his tread with a quick scuff of the boot,
I ambled through the dense wood startled by an owl's hoot.
Branches snapped at my long golden hair,
Insects landed trying to set and lair.
My hand kept wandering to my jewel-studded sword,
A sword worthy of an owner to be called a Lord.
The sky was dark the wind sounded almost wasp-like through the
trees,
Light slowly drained from the delicate outstretched leaves.
A smell of burning slowly wafted up my large bulbous nose,
Smoke spiraled upwards from a camp fire as I stopped and froze.
I crawled foreword propping my vast weight easily on all fours,
My ears picked up the faint sounds of people's snores.
Three men wrapped in furs lay fast asleep by a large fire,
They had not long eaten for food scraps were visible on a cooling
wire.
Three knapsacks lay tightly wrapped nearby with weapons by the
side,
Each man carried a jet-black dagger in his hand as he lay.
Concealed in my brown cloak I moved near the knapsacks quickly with
ease,
Senses alert for any changes as the three men heavily breathed.
Picking up two knapsacks with attentiveness of a wild cat,
I slicked into the undergrowth happy that the men still lay fast
asleep.
Squatting down I opened the knapsacks, tipping out the
Contents on the leafy floor,
A few food items, tools, clothing, set of keys, and a Medallion gold it
looked so pure.
Strange engravings encased the front almost rune-like in blue,
It was magical to look at forged from another world it had to be
true.
I slipped the Pendant around my neck pocketing most of the stash,
The second knapsack contained much the same, with a handful of loose
cash.
Both sacks were carefully hidden beneath a pile of stones and
dirt,
Slowly I looked around for any noise senses still tuned, alert.
After along trek through the sharp finger-like trees,
I came into a clearing my face was slapped in the breeze.
A rider rode steadily towards me stopping just short,
The rider said: The King is dead you are his rightful heir by birth my
Lord.
He dismounted and bowed before me on one knee,
Your hear to proclaim me King: I said taken back.
Yes sire you will rule as your Farther did take the throne it is your
place,
THIEF TO A KING PART TWO
He looked at me his eyes flicked at the pendant then deep into my
furrowed face.
What about my crimes in the past, I have lived outside the law.
The court will forgive your past offences for that I'm sure.
I see you have the pendent of Keel, it was stolen from our court,
We feared it would be lost probably porned and bought.
What is the pendent: I said puzzled at the news,
It is a Royal seal of Kings what I have told you just goes to
prove.
What I was destined to find it&;#8230;is that what your
saying,
Yes Sire we prophesied this event while in the Holy Temple
praying.
I still looked shocked but a happy glow enveloped my soul,
I except&;#8230;I will rule this Kingdom&;#8230;I will take this
important role.
The rider drew his engraved sword and saluted his new King,
As the coronation took place I sealed the Kingdom as mine with the seal
of my gold ring.
King Mandrake asked an advisor: What does the runes mean on the pendent
I wear?
They say Sire: Mandrake King of Troupe the rightful ruler and heir.
