A Poet's Work is Never Done

I'm hoping this might be the first wiki-poem by Aisle16. This is all mine, but hopefully it'll keep being added to.
A Poet's Work Is Never Done
Quaffing champagne out of crystal flutes
getting in and out of these platform boots
throwing up my lunch on that nice man's suit
a poet's work is never done
purchasing hairspray, choosing a belt
waiting for cheese on toast to melt
and daytime TV doesn't watch itself
a poet's work is never done
carrying oneself with an air of decorum
getting all dewey-eyed about autumn
I know, I'll just have a tad more laudanum
a poet's work is never done
no a poet's work is never done
constantly falling out of heiresses' Porsches
watching re-runs of Nuns on the Run
it's draining being a drain on the nation's resources
got to put my feet up, got to dodge my tax
got to tell my editor I don't own a fax
then I've got to find a rhyme for ... fax
a poet's work is never done
accepting new protegees into the fold
sweet little thing, a mere sixteen years old
don't be alarmed if my hands are quite cold
a poet's work is never done
drinking in the daytime, crying at night
going to parties and saying oh I write
to you a "war of letters" to me it's a fight
a poet's work is never done
no a poet's work is never done
always having to find someone else to pay
drinking virgin's blood in the mid-day sun
oh, I've Googled myself thirty times today
mind or body, always something to wank
constantly checking our Amazon rank
never completed, the page always blank
a poet's work is never done
