This morning (15) I woke up at 6.15 am and about five minutes later
attempted to pay my mobile phone bill by credit card. I dont know if
you have tried this but it helps to be able to type in the correct
number and recall the expiry date correctly. I managed to do this on
the second go.
I woke up yesterday a lot later around 10am, and didnt feed the cats. I
fed my Mum and Dad's cat then I had a bath. I had the phone off then,
but on earlier in case I got a call. Then I went online for a bit,
before my wife and I drove round to my inlaws for lunch. Its her
birthday on Tuesday, and rather helpfully she hasn't told me what she
wants. And I need to get a card. I think if I had been quicker off the
mark I could have got her something in Camden on Saturday.
We had lunch and my stomach although better was getting quite acid so
when I was drinking the red wine it burned as I swallowed. I had a
couple of rennies and bailed out to go home and mow the lawn. As you
know yesterday was hot and my lawn has grown quite long. I managed to
cut half of it before the mower gave a death scream and then blew, with
loads of smoke coming from the motor housing. I tried it again after a
bit but it was dead. I cannot believe I have blown the motor, but I
have.
I then pulled the ivy off the wall on my neighbours extension as they
are having it re-roofed this week. That wasn't easy either. The stuff
refused to come off.
I called ... and told them about the lawnmower and they told me they
had been riding around in a new car, which sounded more fun than what I
had been doing in the garden. They said they would be online later so I
played guitar for a bit trying to make it sound like the Velvet
Underground which it didnt, it never does. While I was on the phone I
was playing the VU first album, thats the one called Andy Warhol with
the banana on the front. I made a point of playing them "Sunday
Morning" which is a good track to play on Sunday.
I went online about 6.45pm and was on line till gone half past eleven.
I chatted to ... for this time, despite getting disconnected twice, as
I use Freeserve which does this. Its more reliable than BTOpenworld's
service, that service will chuck you off after 90 minutes or less in
the evening.
My wife got in around seven and watched tv. I had planned to watch the
hour episode of Big Brother but you know how it is, once you get
talking to a close friend. I didnt have any tea as lunch had filled me
up.
I did some online quizzes, one of them supposedly dealing with sex
returned a result of five partners and another said that I was only
22\% b******d. I like these quizzes, they are a bit of fun and I think
you learn more about yourself as a result. Provided you answer them
honestly of course. One idea I had was that if WWIII was declared and
you had five minutes left, who would you call? Assume that you could
call anyone and as many people as you liked and that mobile
phones/telephones worked.
I had a long chat about music and stuff with ... and at last I got an
email from ... which was nice to receive. I sent a reply
straightaway.
Anyone had one of those new Audio CDs which is "enhanced"? I have, it
caused the Vaio no end of problems and you couldnt get rid of the error
messages, so I had to leave them there till I turned the machine off,
which of course hung and I had to take the battery out and disconnect
it from the mains to turn it off. I hate that when that happens. The
same CD also locks up on the PowerMac.
I sometimes listen to music in the morning, especially when I am online
first thing, but sometimes I dont. I might put a cd on in a minute
perhaps.
I think it is rare to spend so long talking (or chatting) to just one
person. It makes me feel special that there are no awkward silences and
rarely misunderstandings, except when the line drops right in the
middle of an important point or moment.
I have got about two thirds of the way through Guns of Avalon and will
be reading Sophies World next. That book is quite thick in terms of
page count.
I remember doing compilation tapes for friends when I was younger.
Nowadays its all CD but there is something about doing tapes. For a
start you dont get buffer underruns.
I should get the tickets for Reading soon, maybe tomorrow. They are
being sent registered post. I am not sure about getting my own tent, as
I am quite tall and would have to get a large tent in order to fit
inside, and a sleeping bag and I dont know if it will be muddy or dry.
If it is anything like yesterday it will be fine. Once I have the
tickets I can plan stuff.
Sometimes we lie in on Sunday and sometimes we dont, it depends on what
we did the night before.
Logic says that love is based on chemistry, love says love is not based
on reason, it just is. You cannot rationalise it, it just
happens.
I like the fact that emotions are not logical.
