The Tree of Shame
Outside the forest stands a lonely tree
And on it, dying, a man who should be me.
Forget the royal, fabled mighty oak of legend
Cast aside the mighty Cedars of Lebanon.
This tree is not for felling, nor will it ever die.
On it's simple branches is pinned for all to see
All the lies, all the shame, all my filthy deeds
The things I wish I'd never been.
And at his feet a simple post-it note read
"Debt paid up in fullĀ signed J C
