UNICORN
Her snowflake steps, as she circles to scan the trees,
Reflects no movement, no rhythm of him in the leaves.
The single horn holds in the ink
That makes the virgin paper cry.
She shakes her head of memory,
The time he came. Another hour by.
To the stream of tumbling words
She moves, with saddened ease.
"Oh come and drink, believe in me.
Free the magic&;#8230; Let others see.
Take hold my mane and use the breeze
To straighten these twisted verbs."
Heavy dewed she turns to go
Behind the rainbows drizzled screen,
Footfalls soft as she retreats to
The forest and what might have been.
Her head goes high under natures branching echoless hall.
"I'll come again. I'll meet you here. I know one day you'll call."
