Winters snow

So cold was the heart of this man
So cold was the gleam in his eye
So hunted was his prey
In the field of sport this was his play.
He would seek his un-found game
Hunting through snow and rain
The stag dances through the trees
And twists away in the breeze.
The stag always kept one step ahead
Kicks up his heels and twists his head
Then becomes part of the brush
And disappears in the hush.
But winter turns the land so cold
And striped the bracken of its dress
You the stag stand so clear
The hunter's cold gleam draws near.
So now you stand so proud and open
And you have no place to go
In the site of your slayer
You will lay down
In the winters snow.
