Torn Between The Two

I love the sea but fear the ocean, for its depths remind me of the abyss that is my darkened soul.
I adore the flames from a menacing fire, but screech at the thought of hell, for it cautions me to lead a life filled with delusional purity I could never maintain.
I’m enticed by an affair with a daring mate, although I tremble at the idea of betrothal, for giving up my impetuous lifestyle for a prison sentence seemed ignorant.
I scoff at the idea of parental obligations, yet my soul aches to create a being full of euphoric hope, for a nation that will taint its innocence
I fall to my knees in worship when the weapons formed against me seem to prosper, yet I utter no praise while enjoying the fruits of my labor
For my indecisive nature is a prerequisite for being part of human civilization
