The Faith and the Faithless

When I condemn, you never judge
When I question, you always answer
When I sleep, you lie awake,
When I am absent, still you are present
When I am loud, you stay quiet
When I am drunk, you stay sober
When I am hopeless, you become hope
When I have less, you give more
When I am there, you are here
When wet, wiped my tears.
In my flaws, you saw perfection
In my guilt, you knew innocence
In my ugliness, you saw beauty,
In my captivity, graced me liberty
In my folly, you taught wisdom
In my danger, you created safety
In my stubborn pride, you remained humble
In my hell, you pulled me to heaven,
In my weakness, you, my unfailing strength.
When I felt it was the end,
You told me
It was the beginning.
I was damaged, you repaired,
I divided, you bound united
I vacant, you occupied
I without, you clung within
I turned liquid, you remained solid.
I the student, you the teacher
I screamed, you whispered
I shut the door, you opened
I folded, you unfolded
I, midnight to your noon,
I, south to your north,
And, east to your west.
To my nobody, you were everybody
To my nothing, you were everything.
If I wanted to lie, you made me stand,
If I forgot, you remembered
If I hated, you gently loved
If I was partial, you were total
If I lacked, you were plentiful.
If I demanded, you supplied
Forever exposed, you were shelter.
My salvation, my saviour.
There is no greater love, than that, of our God.
