Crystal Palace Monster

I arrived expecting a palace
That's what the guidebook said
I had my backpack, some grapes and a roll
Sun cream, a hat on my head

Imagine my disappointment
When I arrived and saw all that green
Boring old trees and bushes
All stuff I'd already seen!

Where was the sparkle, the glamour
The cut glass, the diamonds, the twinkle?
The awe-inspiring palace
For Pete's sake, where was the CRYSTAL?!

I pottered along, claw trailing
When suddenly - oh could it be?
I spotted something I recognised
A load of beasts like me!

I stopped by to find out their names
'IGUANADON' one roared with pride
'MEGALOSAURUS' screamed another
And quietly, I started to cry

'What's wrong?' asked LABYRINTHODON
'You look like you've been hurt!'
'It's not that...' I quietly mumbled
'It's just that I'm only called BURT'.
