The "Splott Brother's"
Comedy and dance act.
Some of us just came from
our Street Elderly group
sat down in front to watch
the Jazz and silent films
dance acts perform
When it came to The Splott Brothers
I was in the front on a very hot
blowy day they took my hand
called me to go upon the stage
another person sat at a table and
I had join him too!
The Splott brothers opened act
by card with large menu on
offered to both of us
I pointed as a choice strange
was rope and trifle yuk!
Sunglasses bright yellow given to
put on a sunhat garland flowers
around my neck a mirror to look in
a plastic hat as well
blew off in the gale
Then the Splott brothers poured us a drink
we stooped down and slurped it up
still the glass was full!
One of the splott brothers
did a trick swung the glasses up down
and around but nothing came out!
Music playing softly like a hawaian tune
so I waved my hands like waves
thought let the people have a thrill
like the old silent films
Then we had to stand up and two
standing by the chair with their leg bent
a rope was hanging down
we were told to pulll harder and harder
why I don't know
but out came a pair of men's
pants on a rope!
Then we were asked to come over to front
as I moved the full skirt had no slip
Oh! dear the wind blowing mad the skirt
was up to my hips
We then had Tommy Cooper hats on our head
put on and told to step on one foot
hop on the other one
a little jump in the air
Our hands were put behind our backs
Oh! no what's next!
Put your hands in the air and twirl around
in circles we were told we had to do
course then had to bend from the knees
go up and down
join our arms all four
of us along.
as an organ seemed to be playing "Zorba The
Greek"
danced in a line and had to bow to the crowd
exhausted! then gave all things back
and giddy lead to our seats.
