Death of Christmas
Jack Frost has blown his icy breath
but still it did not snow.
So different from the Christmas Eve
recalled from long ago.
When they'd toiled to dig the frozen earth
for the resting place below.
What torment makes man take his life
none has ever guessed
but it was on a Christmas Eve
that they laid him there to rest.
So forever more, that time of year
they surely would detest.
An awful cry broke from their midst
hanging empty on the air
but who was there to hear it?
Who was there to care?
For Christmas was upon the world
and it had no grief to share.
The End.
