The Winter Cat
On tip-toe he darts across the snow-dusted grass
Ice on his whiskers
Glistening like glass.
Like a kitten he crouches, leaps and bounces
On snowflakes
He pounces.
A trail of paw-prints left behind in the snow
As he creeps inside to the fire
And basks in the glow.
He blinks into the flames as they crackle and spit
Warm and content
He sleeps for a bit.
