Voyages Of A Hapless Wanderer
I
The afternoon's shadows settle inside a room
Yawning themselves to a forgotten corner
Whilst the sun blazes through a curtain that failed
Settling silky silhouettes across a courtyard that sees
Knows what minor evils Lurk in the hearts of the good
And what minor virtues, are found on the wrists of evil
Another twisted clich?, a boy blue, for you
Who blows his own horn
So you don't have too
Where smoke riddles the clumsy oxygen
You'll find the boy that blossoms
From fiction to fact, a snowball dribbling
Down a unseen hilltop, swapping droplets
Of ice water, for a dusty dirt that clings
The voyages of a hapless wanderer
Are never the stuff of wood-smoke legend
Yet interwoven, into this shoestring waterfall
Is a glamour that never fades
This boy, clambers inside a metaphor
And finds a soul with its shirt un-tucked
Trailing muddy footprints, across a floor that shines
II
The metaphor sparkled, distance defined
As it stared down upon a threadbare town
Trying to find its name
Slow physics ache across its spine
Tickling neurons into play
As the electrons dance to keep up
He sweeps a nervous gaze across rooftops that hide
Simple humans huddled over networked emotion
The metaphor smiles, sunlight glinting
Off a crooked grin that offers no more than
The Word of a good thief, that solemn promise
Of a generations decline.
But also offers no less than
The bashful deceit of a wordsmith
That can spin letters into loopholes,
And like a one-topic prophecy
Chant the mantras of your heart
