Like A Film Score To An Inevitable Tragedy

There should not be this much comfort from talking to you
Now there's another secret that cannot be shared or shed
If I could just lie down with you in some bed
I promise I would only hold you and leave little whispers in your head
I just want to see all of the minutes while you sleep
I'll keep all of your mutterings as memories from hearing you dream
As my heart beats through your thin t-shirt
As my arm rests around your stomach
She forgets that she is lonely and I have never been more at peace
Knee jerks and night-time chills
The disturbances that wake me to pull you near
So close that my nose is buried in your hair
Adding a lasting melancholy to the dawn
As sun rises making the room brighter
But never quite equaling your canvas that's glowing
Like the aftermath of a supernova exploding
Soon your eyes will open and you will turn to face me
I won't ever see another painting like this
The music in your yawn will remain a distinct background noise
Like a film score to an inevitable tragedy
