Desert Traveller
His footsteps march to the ticking of time
Thickened by blue, the vast enclosure unfolds
Trapped only with his thoughts
His soul controls his body and motions it forward;
Yellow sands leak from a sprawling canvas
A distant warm wind blows the sounds of freedom
Absolute nothing will tear up the mind
As thoughts rain for collective company;
Looking out on a hazy visual mystique
Flaming sands ebb a destination unknown
The wasteland breathes arid uncertainty
As the rough faced traveller drifts with the dunes;
Heart wounded and weary, he sees
A gathering of colours rise and wane
In circles they twist and pour into one
As distant whales sigh and dash a painted ocean;
Arriving now each creature of creation
Dancing under a darkening wave
Now all colours drop, a faraway howl harks a warning
And a brush of blinking eyes watch over his silent slumber;
A million mirrors shimmer and reflect
Deep in the mind the aura of time manifests
Rolling on without remorse for the grains of the glass
The ancient dawn leads a lonely figure forth;
With a voice crying dulcet chords
Like a strained playing of some sweet harp
The pathway pledged reaches a golden crest
The summit set to reveal the most sought sight;
Thoughts of release now rain in the mind
The final conclusion to a lonely voyage nearing
But as the incline now flattens the colours remain
The vast void stays true, and voices still tear the terrain;
These things do not trouble the frail figure, for
He has found the substance of what he came to seek
Everywhere to go, away he drifts
Now he can see clearly through the mystics.
