The Rat Race

We live, we breed, we are a breed apart,
the animals, the fish life, they are not as smart.
For it is we who have the IQ, we use it as we please,
we poison our own atmosphere, we cut down all our trees.
We hold education in high esteem but forget everything we learn,
we take our jobs for granted and spend everything we earn.
We fight in the name of justice, we kill in the name of freedom,
we martyr those who die for us as an excuse to enter Gods kingdom.
We're eager to obtain a mortgage, we rush out to finance the car,
we live a life beyond our means and to defend this, we will go to war.
But our actions have a knock-on effect, not everyone can be upper class,
slave labour's required to meet our demands for some the luxuries must pass.
Religion today is fading away to be replaced by a new speculation,
people assume that they can make room for a marvellous new spirital elation.
God is still here but the people do not fear a God that they have invented,
false god they say not, but where is the thought in a God whos work is prevented.
It is here that i must say that our thoughts must give way, to renewing our duty to others,
civilisation is grim, lifeless and dim and ignorant to the needs of our brothers.
The rich and the greedy, the powerful and seedy, they all seek a sort of salvation,
yet they're running away, in order to pay, to keep them in the Rat Race great nation.
