What is it that gives us hope?
The ability to awake day after day,
With the gall to presume,
That today is the day it will get better.
Why do we think we can conquer,
Whatever hell heaven brings?
How is it that we stay invincible,
From the world’s unceasing onslaught,
Of mundane trivial nothings?
And somehow still believe,
That we are greater,
Than what we are shown.
What of happiness?
I know it is so well hidden,
That regardless of how many look,
Few ever find it.
Yet despite all of this,
We still dare to aspire!
I know not if this is man’s greatest folly,
Or our greatest strength.
But come tomorrow,
I too will defy these expectations,
And have hope!
