Disillusioned

Some time ago in a reply to Celticman's blog, I mentioned I used to fancy Sean Bean, but since he started advertising Yorkshire Tea I couldn't take him seriously as a hard man any more.
I was reminded of this last night when I watched a film called Far North. Sean Bean plays a typically macho man, spending his days shooting reindeer, seducing an Innuit girl and murdering Russian soldiers. He tramps about the icy wastes wrapped in animal skins, with a rifle slung over his shoulder.
In several scenes he stalks into the camp, surrounded by the magnificent Arctic frozen tundra with ice cliffs towering in the background. Slings down the bloody carcass of his kill, shrugs the rifle off and sits down at the fire. At which point I couldn't help myself expecting him to say :
"Let's have a proper brew".
I just kept losing the moment …

Let's have a proper brew. Well, he did show a bit of variety. Playing a transexual teacher in one of McGovern's dramas, while mouthing poetry about Gunnevere? A proper man.
