Stirring The Tea

She rose wearily from the chair
Tired boned and rheumaticky
And shuffled to the small kitchen
In her small flat in
Her small world
The kettle filled and boiled
For the millionth time
She looked out onto the back yard
To see weans playing, running, falling ,living life
She thought of when it was her turn
Another age, another world
She poured the hot water into her china cup
And stirred the cut price teabag
She felt all alone
More now than ever
The tea stewed and the biscuit unwrapped
Half price in the Co-op that day
So she shrugged and shuffled back again to reality
And the comforting armchair;
