i once took a lover's test,
"you are a cold dead fish
when it comes to matters of love"
so i prayed to Venus,
the goddess thereof.
"your majesty, help me to love
like a dove
out on a flove,
like a trubadour
all a lour
with a bore.
Was it so? No,"
she snapped, "you must bow
a thousand and one bows,
you little sow,
what you sow, you will
every cent weep."
"Must it be so?" i asked
with an axe,
"there will also be tax,
interest, and royalties
for what you chose."
I asked her for a simple kiss,
she hissed and moaned,
oh Venus, you have made me
love your disdain
and charming humour.
