A graceful sleep

The lights go out and
all words are gone.
In a single, quiet breath
A perpetual grace
Falls upon us like a cloud of mist.
And the night gradually,
With his fragile, wisened hands
Raises the moon onto it's
Pearly pedestal.
In the calm of the night
A storm begins within a cage
Of crystal white calcium.
When your hand brushes against mine,
Through the pitch of the darkness
A quiet tempo,
Beats out in nervous arrest.
The potent summer breeze
Has dealt you a soft, heady kiss
Leaving a sheen of moisture
Resting on your delicate skin.
Which I will wipe away, soon
but somehow, through the deep ocean
of tender sleep,
A smile blossoms across your face
And without needing to return
To the brightness of electric daytime
The whole room is aflame
With supernatural light.
