Have you ever asked out a girl
and heard a laugh so cold and cruel
it would freeze the oceans
but when you think about it
you realise she didn't even smile, not once,
and her only response was to say,
"I'm sorry, oh God, I'm so sorry"?

And it never rains when you want it to
so you have to suffer in the sun
desperately admiring the other girls of the summer
who just will never understand you,
your pain, or the depth and potential of your love.

And now what's this?
She's actually chuckling,
smiling, giggling,
bending down,
"I never thought you'd ask",
her eyes wide,
her face open with love.
